Backcountry skiing on volcanoes of Chile and Argentinian Patagonia

patagonie chili argentine volcan araucanie

The Andes, longest moutain range of our planet are the vertebral bone (and the 4 300 km long border as well) of Argentina and Chile. Chile, on the west coast of South America, is a charming welcoming country along the Pacific ocean. Surprising with beautiful landscapes and incredible sceneries like in the Normand Switzerland in Osorno, Chillan (the 10th/9th regions, 700 kms south of Santiago). Come discover the volcanoes of Chile and Argentina !
From the dry and cold chilo-bolivian red altitude desert of Atacama (where is located Ojos Del Salado), to the South subpolar Patagonian glaciers close to Cap Horn, Chile is a mosaic of different climates and sceneries. Chillan and Curacautin/ Malacahuello volcanoes are amazing steps of the journey. We will ski and practice ski-touring on both sides of the border, on these white “Fuji-Yama” above the big lakes of San Carlos de Bariloche or above deep primary forests of pines, cedras and typical Araucarias trees. Very good lodges, excellent food and accommodations, and farms with brilliant horse-riders and cowboys on the Argentinian side (a kind of far east!). The accommodation is much better than anywhere else in South America. And often wonderful spring snow (or powder skiing in August-September)!
