Mont Blanc by the 3 mounts
A successful ascent of Mt. Blanc is every mountaineer’s dream.
Details of the program
This Mont Blanc traverse is for mountaineers having been successful on Mont Blanc normal route or for very fit beginners in mountaineering! Here is a mountaineering course, during which three nights are spent at altitude, in order to acclimatize gradually.
Then, after a night’s rest and recuperation in the valley, we go up either to Tête Rousse hut or to the Cosmiques hut (3 613 m) on the Aiguille du Midi cable-car. After a short night and big “midnight breakfast!” (waking up you at 1.00 in the night), we set off from here for Europe’s highest summit.
Our ascent by the three peaks route: our last thirty-four years’ experience with these courses has led us to prefer this to the ‘Gouter’ route, as it offers a better chance of success.
To get the top of the Mont Blanc, you need to be fit in walking uphill, to learn to walk with crampons and a rope, and to acclimatize.
You are a regular walker and used to steep terrain. Your physical fitness is excellent, you practise an endurance sport twice a week (running, swimming, cycling). If this is not the case, you should run for 30mn, three times a week, and go for long walks at altitude as often as possible, (also sleeping in altitude, above 3 000 m), during the 2 months preceding your departure.
